Sailing the seven seas is the only good way to obtain the game. As explained already, you aren’t supporting the developers who actually made the game or had anything to do with it, instead you’re giving money to people who resell the game for way more than it’s worth just for a quick buck. Don’t worry- we’ll walk you through how to do it properly and safely.
Use an adblocker. If you’re torrenting, use a VPN. While using a free VPN may seem enticing, they often don’t respect your user privacy and even if they do they often don’t support P2P connections, so you can’t use them to torrent anyway. The only good torrent client we'd recommend is qBittorrent.
If you’re using Fitgirl to torrent, click the link that says “magnet.” Instead of having to navigate file hosting sites, these will open your torrent client directly with it ready to go.
If you’re using GOG, under “Game download links,” choose the one that says “Gofile.” Once you’re there, click the download button to the right of “game-minecraft.story.mode-(18805).rar.”
Note: Yes, the GOG installer will ask for admin permissions. This is because the installers are ripped from the legitimate, non-pirate GOG Games site, and require admin permissions to install. I've had varied results installing without admin perms.
You can buy the physical PC disc off of Amazon, eBay or another trusted site. Season Two’s PC physical copy does not contain episodes 2-5 and there is no way to download the episodes without pirating them, so it's a waste of money.
Steam keys are a mixed bag. You may get your account suspended and can easily get scammed. It isn’t worth the risk and the only people you’ll be supporting are the scalpers who sell the game for exorbitant prices. However, if you’re insistent, buy a key from G2A.
