Old versions of the Megathread

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately nothing built can last forever. So eventually Minecraft Story Mode got shut down. I recently saw a post talking about how annoying the posts are asking how to get the game in 2023. So I’ve decided to make a megathread.

Yes, this guide will involve sailing the seven seas but I’ll provide alternatives if you don’t want to p!rate (not recommended, it costs an arm and a leg, you aren’t supporting the devs and you’re risking getting scammed). Mods, plz don’t ban me, it’s impossible to get the game properly right now, even if you don’t p!rate the game, you’re just helping greedy scalpers, Telltale and Mojang will not profit. This post will reduce the stream of “guys hoe i get in android phone” and prevent misinformation.

Let’s get started.

About each version of the game

Normal disc that just says “Minecraft Story Mode” contains the first 5 episodes of season 1. These episodes are not on the disc (apart from Episode 1) so if you’re purchasing for a console with a shut down store (currently only Xbox 360, though PS3 could be soon) you won’t be able to play the other episodes.

“Complete Adventure” disc/cartridge contains all the episodes for Season 1. (Only version available of Season 1 for Wii U and Switch) this version contains all of the Episodes on disc, so buying for Xbox 360 is ok.

“Minecraft Story Mode Season Two” disc/cartridge is the second season of the game. The episodes need to be downloaded so again, if you’re on a console with a discontinued store (Xbox 360) you can only play episode one. This is not available for PS3.

HOW TO GET MCSM CURRENTLY

Xbox 360

• Physical Discs

Currently, the Complete Adventure is the only disc that will work physically.

• Homebrew

Using a game rom taken from a site (Myrient is the one I recommend and use) you can run the game via JTAG off a usb. You can also run a patch for Season 2 to get all of the episodes.

PS3

• Physical Discs

Complete Adventure Disc is the only version to get unless you’re collecting, or can’t spare an extra ten bucks or so. Buy it off ebay or another trusted site of your choice. Avoid mercari because it’s notorious for scams.

• Homebrew

Download the Complete Adventure .iso off of Myrient. You’ll need to decrypt the iso by mounting it with an iso mounting software, use PS3 ISO Dumper to dump the game files and use PS3 ISO Tools to compile it back to iso. Use FTP transferring to your PS3 and boot it via MultiMAN or play it on a USB/External Hard Drive via WebMAN.

Xbox One

• Physical Discs

Any disc will work, no problems here.

• Homebrew

Nothing is possible here

PS4

• Physical Discs

Again, all discs work

• Homebrew

Wii U

• Physical Discs

Complete Adventure works fine. It’s the only release for the system so really not much to say here.

• Homebrew

Wii U USB Helper will work for the Complete Adventure. You can alternatively download the rom from Mariocube or Myrient

Nintendo Switch

• Cartridges

All cartridges work but they’re extremely expensive. Buy them off of Amazon or another trusted site.

• Homebrew

Use a hacked/modchipped Switch to run tinfoil and boot the .xci file. You could try downloading the S2 episodes via a burner account but it will likely get banned. I’d recommend getting the games from nxbrew.com or nsw2u.xyz , make sure you use an adblocker!

iOS

Use Cydia Impactor on a jailbroken device to run the .ipa with the episodes patch. Ipa sites are constantly going down so you’ll need your own research here. You also need the latest version because most of the older versions are 32-bit.

Android

Download a .xapk and download an xapk installer from the Play Store. You can find an apk search engine in r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH no need to download the episodes, both seasons should have them there.

Mac

You need to get a cracked version. You can find it from https://rentry.org/pgames

Windows

• Legally

You can buy a rom disc off of Amazon, EBay or another trusted site. No, Steam keys are not legit. You may get your account suspended, the game taken and you also can easily get scammed.

Alternatively you can t0rrent off of fitgirl-repacks.

Use an adblocker and if you’re torrenting - a VPN (virtual private network)

DO NOT USE STEAMUNLOCKED

The site used to be semi-alright but they’ve implemented adware hijackers into their site, malicious redirects, broken Repacks, stolen Repacks and they usually steal from IGG Games which:

• Put DRM in their games which prevents the files being copied

• Put ads in their games

• Hide cryptominers in their games

• And make malware activate at startup

While the MCSM repack has been deemed safe, you can still get the adware hijackers and of course the malicious redirects not to mention the terrible download speed.

Netflix Version

The MCSM Netflix Archive has you covered. Two out of five episodes are done as of right now. You can view their content here
